Social media tips
1. Start with your why.
When you post on social media about your efforts for the first time start with your why.
Dragon Boat participants get involved in Dragon Boat for various reasons - many are very close to the heart. Maybe you or a loved one are currently surviving cancer, or perhaps you’re paddling to honor someone you have lost to cancer. Maybe you want to make a difference. Whatever your reason is, we all paddle for one common reason: to beat cancer. Share your personal reason with your social media friends to start spreading awareness of your efforts!
2. Post often about your team’s efforts. Shout out your donors and supporters along the way.
3. Consider thinking outside of the box.
Create a social media challenge to entice your friends to donate to you. For example, you could say, “If my social media friends help me raise $500 for cancer research and community prevention resources, I will shave my head!”
Other examples could include throwing a pie in your or someone else’s face; dumping a bucket of ice-cold water on yourself, or whatever you think would motivate your social media friends to donate to your efforts. NOTE: we do not encourage any challenges that could cause harm to you or others.
