Help Me Fight Cancer with my Paddle!
This is my 7th year participating in the Upstate Dragon Boat Festival. I've been inspired by the courage of patients and caregivers as we stand at the lakefront together.
I work alongside women fighting ovarian cancer in my position as executive director at the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation. We know how much difference early detection can make, so we strive to teach women the warning signs of ovarian cancer:
- Abdominal Pressure, Bloating or Discomfort/Pain
- Feeling Full Quickly When Eating
- Constipation of Other Changes in Bowel Habits
- Urinary Frequency and/or Urgency
Please, do NOT put off a visit to your doctor if your body is telling you something is wrong!
All the proceeds from this fundraising effort stay local and have significant impact on research, treatment and support of cancer patients and their families.
As always, I participate in memory of my mother Myrtle, who was taken by a recurrence of breast cancer and another very special mother named Lois who left her family after a brave fight with ovarian cancer. I won't say either one lost the fight, they just came to the end of their journeys on this earth.
Please make a donation on line or contact me if you want to mail a check. Any amount is helpful and will be put to work in the battle against cancer and the strengthening of those scarred from the fight! You may reach me at 864.373.6306 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
