Welcome to Krista's Page!
Join me in supporting cancer patients in the Upstate by donating to the 12th annual Dragon Boat Upstate Festival. By making a donation in support of my Dragon Boat team, you help provide vital cancer research and survivorship programs to cancer patients in our community.
I see the impact of your donations every single day, and without your support, so many programs that have transformed patient lives would go unfunded.
My uncle Jeff Gaston died in January of 2017. He was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer with almost no symptoms in the months prior, and despite the best possible care available, he died less than two months after diagnosis. We can do better. We have to do better.
It was his death that moved me to paddle in my first Dragon Boat Upstate race. It gave me a sense of community and hope when I felt hopeless and lost.
My aunt Kay McLeod died December 2017 from lung cancer. There were no viable treatments remaining after a chemotherapy regimen failed to control her disease. We will never get her back, but we can fight to offer the next person in her situation something better.
This year I paddle for Jeff and Kay.
So many of us have been touched by cancer in some way and this event provides a way for us to honor and remember loved ones that have faced or continue to face the disease. Make a gift to my Dragon Boat team and know that you are making a difference to cancer patients right here in the Upstate.
